The American College of Pediatricians is a national organization of pediatricians and other healthcare professionals dedicated to the health and well-being of children. Formed in 2002, the College is committed to fulfilling its mission by producing sound policy, based upon the best available research, to assist parents and to influence society in the endeavor of childrearing. Membership is open to qualifying healthcare professionals who share the College's Mission, Vision and Values. The College currently has members in 47 states, and in four countries outside of the US. The College is a not-for-profit corporation organized for scientific and educational purposes, exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The home office is in Gainesville, Florida and the office telephone number is 888-376-1877.

 

The mission of the College is to enable all children to reach their optimal physical and emotional health and well-being. To this end, the College has written a number of position statements on matters unique to children, and will continue to produce sound policy based upon the best available research to assist parents and society in the care of children.

LETTER TO SHAWANO SCHOOL DISTRICT

The College sent a letter to the Shawano School District in Wisconsin in an effort to assist the school district in evaluating an op-ed composition by one of their students. Liberty Counsel issued a press release on this issue highlighting the College's letter.

The College issues a press release "Plan B: Not A Good Plan." This press release congratulates Health and Human Services for the decision to not dispense Plan B to adolescents without a prescription.
