Division Chief, Newborn Medicine

We offer the emerging or experienced leader a unique opportunity to advance the academic mission of our Division of Newborn Medicine in providing excellent patient care, teaching and scholarship. 

Key components of the Chief position:

  • Provide strategic, clinical, and academic leadership for our team of 7 neonatologists, 3 neonatal hospitalists and 10 neonatal APPs in our 55-bed level III NICU.
  • Provide operational oversight of the newborn medicine clinical division.
  • Enjoy a combination of clinical care and resident and medical student teaching with faculty appointment to the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate.
  • The division has access to pediatric subspecialties, pediatric surgery support, total body hypothermia, high-frequency ventilation (HFOV and Jet), iNO, PDA Ligation, and an in-house regional transport service.
  • Cultivate and facilitate innovative clinical and QI research. NeoQIC, a Massachusetts statewide quality improvement collaborative, provides regional support for clinical improvement multi-center initiatives. Active areas of research:  nutrition, neonatal abstinence, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, clinical trials, and quality improvement.  Candidates with complimentary or unique clinical research interests are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience post-training with evidence of progressive management responsibilities and leadership in an academic department.
  • A strong record of collaboration; must possess the ability to engage a broad base of potential stakeholders to work towards a shared vision.
  • Academic record consistent with the level of Associate Professor or above at UMMS-Baystate.

Great Falls, Montana

Practice for sale in Great Falls Montana

Provider retiring and offering a wonderful opportunity to take over an established solo independent practice located in beautiful Montana. I have spent the last 9 years, fine-tuning the inner workings of a unique clinical environment and successful model. The practice has a proven track record with an excellent staff, in-house billing and applied EMR technology to enhance efficiency and patient care. The office is designed to accommodate two with possibly three providers. I have worked alongside a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the past which increased both our patient panel and revenue stream. Our program offers a unique opportunity for self-determination, autonomy, and lifestyle as owner and director. We have found a balance in a talented and dedicated nursing staff and a business model that can be modified to serve both the local community and the owner. I currently see an average of 25 patients per day which with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner easily doubled the number of visits substantially increasing revenue flow. We have a profound advantage as being the only independent pediatric practice in a town of 66,000 people and a referral area of almost 150 miles. I have worked diligently in providing the highest level of care, outstanding reputation and personalized patient-centered care not available at the two competing hospitals. This is strictly an ambulatory practice with no hospital commitments. We have established and “ branded “ the practice over nearly the past decade and our practice model serve as a medical home to families by catering to their expectations and needs. Our office doors are open 5 days a week and we have a devoted clientele which could be transitioned easily over time to another owner. Being independent offers a variety of options and lifestyle opportunities, particularly in adding additional providers. Our EMR is server based and we have a considerable database. Our patient mix includes children with complex medical problems as well as a balance of well-child visits. We do limited advertising and have a steady stream of families that seek an independent practice that takes a special interest in providing them with personalized care unique to our community. Outside Great Falls, small communities simply cannot attract pediatricians and provide a large referral base of farming and ranching families. We have developed an efficient in-house billing system which allows us to answer questions and improve reimbursement. Our EMR mirrors with our billing system, insurance “ gateway” and electronic bank deposits cut reimbursement times to a matter of weeks to provide operating costs. We have defined industry standards of larger clinics and our 30 – 60 day AR is negligible and the number of patients in collection very low. Our goal is to constantly exceed the limited pediatric programs in our community by emphasizing personalized care, working alongside specialist and improving our delivery model to meet our patient needs. I have been working in Pediatrics since completing a residency at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in 1995. After coming to Great Falls 16 years ago I and set out 9 years ago to create a medical home based on my medical standards, entrepreneurial skills, technology background and a practice model centered around families desires and needs. Having been highly successful, it is now time to consider transitioning and moving along to be closer to my family that all reside in Florida.

Great Falls is the 3rd largest city in Montana located along the Missouri River in the center of the state with incredible state parks just a few hours drive away. There are approximately 60,000 residents in the town with a service area of approximately 150 miles to meet the needs of more remote farming and ranching communities.M any of our families drive several hours for the care we deliver. The Section of Pediatric Critical Care at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD) seeks a Pediatric Intensivist who possesses excellent clinical skills and a passion for teaching. Academic career development will be supported and may include research, education, or program development. Candidates at any stage of their career will be considered. Clinical services are anchored in the level III Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), the academic medical center supporting New Hampshire and adjacent Vermont communities.
